Investigating cyber-physical energy systems
The assets of grid operators are subject to strict requirements with respect to availability and reliability. The integration of new technologies, for example in the form of telecontrol communication and IT security components, offers vast potential for more active operational management and network condition monitoring. At the same time, faulty configurations can lead to unforeseen negative impacts on operations. A realistic laboratory environment offers the possibility for deliberate testing of new hardware or software "in-the-loop" in a protected environment. For this purpose, the laboratory offers primary and secondary technical components as well as control systems typically used by network operators. The components can also be scaled via a simulation environment to generate a data volume on a realistic scale.
